Welcome to O.N.E. Student and Community Engagement! The purpose of this course is to help you understand how school nutrition programs connect with students, families, and communities. Participants will learn how marketing, communication, engagement, and excellent customer service shape how school nutrition is experienced and perceived. 

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

Module 1: Marketing and Communications

  • Define Marketing and Communications for school nutrition programs
  • Discuss the importance of messaging for school nutrition programs and staff
  • Identify school nutrition audiences
  • Discover available marketing and communication resources
  • Explain the value of giving and receiving feedback as a school nutrition professional

Module 2: Engaging Students and Communities

  • Define Food-Based Learning
  • Identify aspects of Farm to School and Harvest of the Month initiatives
  • Review components of the Local Wellness Policy

Module 3: Characteristics of Good Customer Service

  • Define customer service
  • Identify customers and stakeholders
  • Identify best practices to attract and keep customers
